Colombia – Seminar on RJ in prisons
15/11/2018 - 22/11/2018
Our Board member Roberto Moreno, Head of Adults Justice Service at the Ministry of Labour and Justice of the Basque Government in Spain, has been invited in Colombia as the international expert for a seminar on RJ and prisons (Bogotá, 20 November, during the RJ Week).
The seminar is organized within the framework of the research project “Del patio al barrio: Análisis de los factores explicativos del reingreso al sistema penitenciario y carcelario. El caso del establecimiento “La Modelo” de Bogotá”. This research has been funded by the Universidad de los Andes as part of a work on prisons and RJ initiated by being advanced by the Working Group on Prisons at the law faculty.
Roberto will be in Colombia also for other initiatives between 15-22 November, during the international RJ Week, such as for entering the prison “La Modelo” within the framework of academic and advocacy work that the Prison Group performs in said establishment, in order to know the guidelines and the approach of the project as the penitentiary reality of the country.
Roberto has an established collaboration with Libardo Ariza, Associate Professor at the University of Los Andes in Colombia and the Director of the Group of research in Prisons at the University. Together, they put together the panel “RJ and daily life in prisons in Colombia, Belgium and Spain. Learned lessons, opportunities, risks and reflections” (Parallel Workshop I in Tirana on 14 June, see page 47 in the conference booklet). The presentations (ppts and video by Libardo, Moreno and Claes) can be viewed here.
Please contact Roberto for more info.
