A COST (European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research) action on "Restorative Justice Developments in Europe" has been launched.
The initiative is focused on bringing researchers together and on coordinating and stimulating research.
The main objective of the initiative is to enhance and to deepen knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of restorative justice in Europe, with a view to supporting implementation strategies in a scientifically sound way.
At the first meeting of this action, Ivo Aertsen (ivo.aertsen@law.kuleuven.ac.be) was elected as Chair of the Management Committee.
Three working groups were established:
- Working group on Evaluative research, chaired by Kieran O'Dwyer (odwyerk@iol.ie)
- Working group on Policy oriented research, chaired by Vania Patané (vpatane@lex.unict.it)
- Working group on Theoretical research, chaired by Robert Mackay (robertemackay@yahoo.co.uk)
