The “Leuven International Short Film Festival” launched a call for submissions including restorative justice as part of the festival’s non-competitive thematic programme!

Leuven is a small city in Belgium hosting the European Forum for Restorative Justice since its origins, thus the festival will join the celebrations for the EFRJ’s 25th anniversary as well as the 25 years of the restorative justice movement in Europe! Indeed, around 5-10 December 2025 the EFRJ will organise the REstART Festival on the arts of restorative justice, short films included!

If you (or filmmakers and other creative minds within your networks) wish to contribute to the programme, this is what you need to know to submit your short film:

  • Short films may be live-action, documentary or animated shorts for different audiences (children included).

  • The duration is max. 35 minutes.

  • Short films can be in any language, with English subtitles.

  • The entry fee to submit the short film is 9 EUR (early bird: 15 April) or 14 EUR (until 15 August). Please get in touch with the EFRJ Secretariat if the submission fee is a burden for you.

  • Note that the thematic programme is not linked to any competition; in case you wish to participate in the competition stricter guidelines and rules apply.

  • If selected, short films on restorative justice will be screened in Leuven on 6-7 December, as a joint initiative of Leuven International Short Film Festival and the REstART Festival.

Feel free to disseminate it within your (filmmakers’) networks.
