Relational and Restorative Practices Webinar Series: First Session Today!

Today, we will kick off with the first of our 7-session webinar series on Relational and Restorative Practices in Schools! Schools are increasingly facing complex challenges, from student dysregulation and disengagement to absenteeism, polarisation, and identity-based harm. Responding to these realities requires approaches that prioritise relationships, consistencies, and sustainable change. This international webinar series, led by the EFRJ Working Group on Restorative Schools, brings together educators and practitioners across seven live sessions, starting today (March 24th). Each 75-minute session offers practical, trauma-informed strategies to support school culture, respond to behaviour, and lead meaningful change, combining expert input, real-world examples, and space for reflection and application. Live captioning will be available in multiple languages to ensure accessibility across contexts. Registration for the first webinar, as well as the series package is now open and accessible!

Responding to Environmental Harm: Practice Guide Launch Webinar

As environmental harm continues to impact ecosystems, communities, and future generations, there is a growing need for approaches that address not only damage, but responsibility, dialogue and repair. In response, the EFRJ Working Group on Environmental Restorative Justice has developed the Restorative Justice Approaches for Environmental Harm, a Practice Guide, bringing together practical tools, principles, and insights from practitioners, scholars, policymakers, and environmental actors. The guide addresses a wide range of environmental harms, from pollution and biodiversity loss to resource depletion, and explores how restorative approaches can respond meaningfully in these contexts. The webinar offers an opportunity to hear directly from the authors. The session will introduce the purpose of the guide, reflect on its collaborative development, and provide a chapter-by-chapter overview, followed by a Q&A.

Building the Future: RESCALED European Symposium on Detention Houses

In a push to ensure justice systems move toward humane, inclusive and sustainable futures, RESCALED is organising a European Symposium on Detention Houses to explore detention houses as a sustainable replacement for large-scale prison institutions, centring deprivation of liberty as a last resort. Taking place on the 21st-22nd of April in Tirana, Albania, and co-organised with RESCALED Ambassador Olta Qejvani and the FRAME project, the symposium brings together change-makers around Europe to strengthen a shared commitment to justice systems that are humane, inclusive, and sustainable. The programme will culminate in the launch of the #1000HOUSES campaign, an ambitious collective call to replace 100 prisons with 1000 detention houses by 2030. Remembering and Reflecting: 10 Years Since the Brussels Attacks

Last weekend marked the 10th anniversary of the Brussels terrorist attacks (March 22nd), a day to remember the lives affected and reflect on the long-term impact of violence on individuals and communities. In this important and timely context, the work of Retissons du Lien, a restorative justice organisation facilitating meetings between victims and offenders across a range of cases, highlights how restorative practices can provide spaces for listening, dialogue and recognition of harm. As part of their ongoing work, Isabelle Seret has produced two powerful podcasts. One features a conversation between a victim of the Brussels attacks and a former terrorist inmate, reflecting on their restorative journey a year after the offender’s release. The second explores restorative meetings between three victims and three incarcerated participants within a prison setting, illustrating the broader role of restorative practices in addressing harm and supporting accountability.
