Upcoming online course: Measuring What Matters in Ways that Matter

We are delighted to announce our upcoming online course: “Measuring What Matters in Ways that Matter – The Principles, Challenges, and Methodologies of Quality Restorative Evaluation”. Led by Dr Terence Bevington, this five-part course is designed for practitioners, researchers, and policy makers who want to explore how to evaluate restorative justice in meaningful, value-driven ways. The five-part online course will take place every second week from the 18th of September to the 3rd of November. The course's design with gasp between the sessions give time to reflect, apply the learning in the particiopants' own context, and return with fresh insights and questions to deepen the learning. Find out more and register on the dedicated page! Early bird registration is available until the 18th of August.

10th EFRJ Summer School Starts on Monday

37 attendees are getting ready for the 10th edition of the Summer School, held in the beautiful city of San Sebastián/Donostia (Basque Country). From the 16th to the 20th June, the city will host our international group, with sessions running in both English and Spanish, and shared moments bringing everyone together.
This year’s edition will try to answer to the following question: “How does institutional abuse not only challenge, but also add depth and increase the scope of restorative justice?”
We extend our warm thanks in advance to our local co-organisers: the Basque Institute of Criminology (University of the Basque Country) and the Restorative Justice & Practice Lab, led by Gema Varona.
Stay tuned to our social media channels for live updates throughout the week!
Laster arte!

Moment of Inspiration

'Repair Cafés' are workshops where people can bring their broken objects to repair them or get the repaired and give them a second life. Started in the Netherlands, Repair Cafés are now spreading across Europe. They are welcoming spaces where neighbours meet to fix everyday items, supported by local volunteers who share their time and skills. You will often find things like hair dryers, coffee machines, and mobile phones being repaired, items that, in a throwaway culture, would usually be discarded. At a Repair Café, they get a second chance. And in the process, something more happens: people connect, learn from each other, and take part in a more sustainable way of living. In a fast-paced world, these places invite us to slow down. They show us the value of making things last  - and remind us that everyone has something to contribute. So next time something breaks, try checking if there is a Repair Café near you. You might find a working toaster… and a special place!
