Italian Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia opened the international EFRJ conference in Sassari

Today the EFRJ's 11th international conference opened with 345 participants from 41 different countries all over the world. The Italian Minister of Justice has joined the opening of the conference, and contributed with a deeply eloquent speech, highlighting the significance of the EFRJ's work on a European and also on national levels, presenting the work done in Italy  for the adoption of a comprehensive regulation on restorative justice in criminal matters, on the international level  - mentioning the Venice Declaration (Council of Europe, 2021); the Kyoto Declaration on Crime Prevention (UN, 2021),; the new EU Victims’ Strategy; and the ongoing revision of the EU Victims' Directive. 

She also discussed her personal journey discovering the potential of restorative justice, and how she sees  "restorative justice as the practice of justice that we are looking for"; and "peace and justice, a peaceful justice made of a just peace."
