Starting from September 2024, the EFRJ Secretariat launches a series of webinars, awareness campaigns (such as the international Restorative Justice Week and art-related events), training offers, and much more! Many activities are offered online for free, while others may happen in-person for paying participants.

During the Summer 2024, the EFRJ launched two surveys to collect data from our restorative justice field. One is for those working with women victims of gender-based violence (deadline to respond: 1 September), and one is for those experienced in hate crime and/or systemic violence (deadline to respond: 13 October).

The call for hosting EFRJ events in 2026-2027 is now open, you can send your proposal by half October 2024. We seek for organisational members, or groups of individual members, who wish to take up the challenge to co-organise with us our next conference, seminar, summer school or other events!

A call for members, divided in two phases, is open in Autumn 2024! The 1st phase is for members who wish to propose the topics of our future Working Groups, and wish to initiate and chair them at least at their start (deadline: 12 October). The 2nd one will open in November for members who wish to join one of the Committees and Working Groups in their 2-year mandates.

With the EU Council's position on the Victims' Rights Directive, EU member states have shown little willingness to commit to enhancing victim rights. They have largely rejected or diluted the EU Commission’s proposals, turning obligations into mere options. The EFRJ, together with other 51 organisations, signed thestatementpromoted by Victim Support Europe (VSE) to show solidarity with victims of crimeand urge all EU Member State to honour commitments to victims of crime; by adopting a strong Victims’ Rights Directive as the cornerstone legislation for all victims of crime.

Following the recent Board election which was concluded during the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the European Forum for Restorative Justice (28th of May, Tallinn), and its results were announced, the new Board has elected a new Executive Committee.

On 29 May 2024 the European Restorative Justice Award ceremony took place in Tallinn, and we are excited to announce that the 7th laureate is The Encounter of the Encounters.

The membership of the EFRJ has (re)elected 4 Board members.

The EFRJ is  pleased to see that the European Commission Recommendation on Integrated Child Protection Systems recognised restorative justice as an important approach and practice for increasing child-friendly justice. However, it is important to draw the European Commission's attention to the need for a holistic restorative justice approach in all matters involving children.

The European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ) sent feedback to the European Commission to assess the effect of the EU 2021-24 Strategy on Judicial Training. Our feedback promotes the strengthening of restorative justice frameworks across the EU.
