Relational & Restorative Practices in Schools

This webinar, organised by the EFRJ Restorative Schools Working Group, is a basic introduction to the key values and principles of relational and restorative practice in a school setting.

Two experienced trainers and educators will explain what you can expect to see and hear in a relational and restorative school on a daily basis, and what policies ensure that there is consistent practice across a whole school.

Who is it for?

Ministers of Education and their staff; Senior school leaders and administrators, teachers, educational psychologists and counsellors, local and national government officials responsible for staff wellbeing, school policies and procedures.

Why is it useful?

Schools across Europe face similar challenges – rising violence, bullying, school refusal, mental health challenges, increased stress and burnout amongst teachers – to name a few. Relational and restorative practice offers the tools to help school leaders and their staff address these challenges effectively and positively.

What will happen?

The two presenters will introduce the session, sharing their knowledge and experience of working with schools in Europe and North America. Participants will gain an understanding of what the key essentials are for transforming school culture so that teachers and students can thrive and succeed.

Following a brief presentation participants will be invited to join a break-out room and will be given prompts to guide their conversation with others in the group.

What language will be used?

The main plenary session will be delivered in English. Breakout rooms will be offered in multiple languages, with discussion prompts provided in participants’ chosen languages wherever possible, allowing them to engage directly with others in the same language group.
