ENG/ Starting from its 20th anniversary in 2020, the EFRJ started to celebrate its birthday, each year in December, by giving visibility to projects bringing together arts and restorative justice. On the occasion of its 23th anniversary, on 8 December 2023 between 5 - 6:30 pm CET, we will meet with Zahy Vera (Cuba/ Spain) and Pilar González Rivero (Spain) to reflect about the role of arts as part of the restorative justice journey.
The talk will be held on Zoom in Spanish, with simultaneous translation in English. Register (for free or with a small donation) below.
ESP/ A partir de su 20º aniversario en 2020, la EFRJ comenzó a celebrar su cumpleaños, cada año en diciembre, dando visibilidad a proyectos que aúnan artes y justicia restaurativa. Con motivo de su 23º aniversario, el 8 de diciembre de 2023 a las 17-18:30h CET, nos reuniremos con Zahy Vera (Cuba/España) y Pilar González Rivero (España) para reflexionar sobre el papel de las artes como parte del proceso de justicia restaurativa. Zahy Vera & Pilar González Rivero
Zahy is a dancer and therapist born in La Habana (Cuba) and currently living in Madrid (Spain). Among her artistic projects, “No, gracias: Danzas a una niña rota” (“No, thanks: Dances of a broken girl”) is an autobiographical work combining her passion for dance, theater, and music. It tells the story of a little girl who survives the consequences of childhood sexual abuse and who, once she becomes a woman, faces her suffering to heal the wound of her lost childhood and to live with dignity.
Zahy has experienced restorative justice by entering into a dialogue with different men responsible of incest. Her restorative justice journey has been offered and facilitated by Pilar, penal mediator and restorative justice practitioner who founded the Asociación para la Mediación, el Encuentro y la Escucha (AMEE - association for mediation, meeting and listening). In her career Pilar has been a lawyer and judge; in her restorative justice work, she uses creative and artistic instruments (such as drawing) to encourage dialogue when verbal communication is difficult to happen.
Practicalities
This event will not include any live performance. It will be a talk with Zahy and Pilar about the artistic and restorative justice journeys (images included). For now, the live performance can be seen in Spain only.
The talk will take place on Zoom, facilitated by Emanuela Biffi (EFRJ) and Rocío Nicolás López (AMEE), and it will be an opportunity to engage into a discussion with our guests.
Simultaneous interpretation will be provided between Spanish<>English.
ESP/ "Hay dos cuestiones para mí: una cómo una persona vivencia y encauza a través de la danza y el arte su propio proceso de sanación y restaurativo y otra, cómo en los procesos restaurativos se hace uso del arte para tocar y activar la parte más sensible del ser humano, que pensamos que es más capaz de tocar la propia humanidad y la humanidad del otro, por ejemplo a través de la poesía, del color, de la danza y el movimiento."
Zahy Vera & Pilar González Rivero
Zahy es una bailarina y terapeuta nacida en La Habana (Cuba) y actualmente residente en Madrid (España). Entre sus proyectos artísticos, se encuentra la obra autobiográfica “No, gracias: Danzas a una niña rota” que combina su pasión por la danza, el teatro y la música. Cuenta la historia de una niña que sobrevive a las consecuencias del abuso sexual infantil y que, una vez convertida en mujer, afronta su sufrimiento para sanar la herida de su infancia perdida y poder vivir con dignidad.
Zahy ha experimentado la justicia restaurativa al entablar un diálogo con diferentes hombres responsables de violencia sexual infantil. Su viaje de justicia restaurativa ha sido ofrecido y facilitado por Pilar, mediadora penal y facilitadora de justicia restaurativa que fundó la Asociación para la Mediación, el Encuentro y la Escucha (AMEE). En su carrera Pilar ha sido abogada y jueza; en su trabajo de justicia restaurativa, utiliza instrumentos creativos y artísticos (como el dibujo y la poesía) para fomentar el diálogo cuando la comunicación verbal es difícil.
Aspectos prácticos
Este evento no incluirá ninguna actuación en vivo. Será un dialogo con Zahy y Pilar sobre los procesos artísticos en la justicia restaurativa (imágenes incluidas). De momento, el espectáculo solo se representa en España.
El dialogo se llevará a cabo por Emanuela Biffi (EFRJ) y Rocío Nicolás López (AMEE) en Zoom y será una oportunidad para entablar una discusión con nuestros invitados.
Se proporcionará interpretación simultánea entre español<>inglés.
