Student membership

All members of the European Forum for Restorative Justice are expected to have read and agreed on the mission and aims of the organisation and comply to its values as a daily practice.

Become a member as a student

Students (below 27 years old) can also apply for an individual membership with a 50% discount on the fee. As all individual members, they are private persons who support the mission, vision, and objectives of the EFRJ. They can be young people pioneers in restorative justice (RJ) in their country, either studying subjects relevant for RJ (criminology, law, psychology, social work, peace studies) or interested in RJ as part of their hobbies and private life. Students can only be associate members, meaning that they cannot have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting, nor be candidates for the Board elections.

Membership fees are payable for the period between 1 January and 31 December of any year. It is preferable that renewals are done before 15 May. This allows us to present the actual list of members to the Annual General Meeting (due in June each year). There is no difference in membership fee for full and associate members.

Please note that we have slightly changed our membership fees from this year. Please see details below.

Membership fees (applicable from 1 January 2020)

In order to aim for a more fair contribution system, the membership fees are adjusted from 2020. The new system reflects the economical status of the European countries. As equal access is a very important element of the core philosophy of the EFRJ, the membership fee varies according to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and, in case of young members, for students below 27 years old. According to GDP per capita, a distinction is made for the GDP index higher than 100, or lower than 100 (where 100 represents the European GDP average). The data from the last available year to determine the fee can be found on Eurostat* **. As individual members, students represent the country they live and study in. Members can contact the EFRJ Secretariat in case they have trouble paying the membership fees for reasons that are not foreseen in the GDP table, or if they have doubts about the fee to be paid (e.g. if their country is not in the table from Eurostat).

According to decision made by the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the European Forum for Restorative Justice (Bilbao - Spain, 4 June 2019) the following membership fees are applicable from 2020 on:
