The European Commission launched an open consultation concerning the evaluation of the Victims’ Rights Directive (VRD - Directive 2012/29/EU) “to assess to what extent it has achieved its objectives in terms of its implementation and practical application in EU countries”. The Commission seeks to gather input from the widest possible range of stakeholders, including national authorities, non-governmental organisations, victim support organisations and individual citizens. Based on the results of this evaluation the EU may decide to revise the VRD next year.
The consultation will remain open until 25 October 2021. The consultation is composed of a questionnaire (available in all EU languages) to which a position paper can be attached. Individuals as well as organisations can participate in this consultation, but the latter need to be registered in the EU Transparency Register. Here is the link to all information about the consultation and to the questionnaire.
