On 6 November, our policy officer, Laura Hein attended the High Level Experts’ meeting: What future for victims’ right? organised by the European Commission and the Finnish Presidency to define priorities for the upcoming term of the Commission in the area of victims’ rights with a special focus on differentiating between victims of different types of crimes (gender-based violence, victims of terrorism and victims of trafficking in human beings).
The European Forum for Restorative Justice contributed to the meeting along experts from the Member States providing assistance for victims of crime, victims’ and experts’ organisations and it drew on recommendations from several recent reports on victims’ rights (Milquet report, Fundamental Rights Agency reports and Victim Support Europe reports).
